I’m not interested in “Stock tips”, Mutual funds or any other hands-off investing strategies. While I do participate in 401Ks, IRAs (traditional and Roth), and taxable brokerage accounts, I believe that I need other parallel asset building activities where I have a more active role in determining the return on investment.
Investing in equities, bonds and the like leaves success up to a few corporate executives and the emotions of millions of weekend investors. I invest in companies and market sectors that I believe will grow in value, but I want more.
If you had a few thousand dollars each month to use towards increasing your financial health/wealth, how would you use it?
Again, I’d appreciate suggestions that do not include exchange based market investments. I’m looking more along the lines of a business venture. I’d most appreciate suggestions from those who are where I’d like to be (those who are financially free-a.k.a. work because they want to, not to pay the bills )
Investing Strategy for 23 year old?
I am 23 and have recently graduated from college and have a good job ($42,000 per year salary + bonus). The only debt I have is about $20,000 in student loans. I have recently begun buying stocks, but I only have about $1,500 invested right now. My stocks are doing pretty well, but I don’t have enough invested right now to make any significant gains. I would like to continue to invest more money as I earn more, however I am not sure what my best option is at this point. Should I continue to buy individual stocks, or should I invest in mutual funds or even Roth IRA? I feel that I’ll get dinged by taxes if I continue buying stocks and don’t start taking advantage of some of the tax benefits associated with IRAs or Roth IRAs. Any advice???
Frank Castle, you’re a huge tool. Don’t waste my time with your bullsh*t. I suggest you to f*ck off.

I need someone who prepares taxes as well. I need someone who can 1) find ways to reduce my tax liabilty 2) help me set up an investing strategy long term 3) Be knowledgeable in investments that can reduce my current tax liability from my income. I am wary of mutual funds with tons of fees and want someone who can give straightforward advice.
Is investing in gold a good idea?
I have a lot of money invested in mutual funds and am concerned with the recent drop in the stock market as well as the recent concerns with subprime lenders….do you think that investing in gold is a good hedging strategy? Do you think that the price of gold would rise if some of these lenders tank?
Can non-US Residents/Citizens invest in IPOs and Mutual Funds? If so, whats an online broker?
I have contacted Etrade and they transferred my inquiry to the Dubai branch which replied that since I am not a US citizen nor resident, I will not be able to invest in IPOs or Mutual Funds? Can someone confirm or provide a way to be able to invest in those two methods?
