As seen on 60 Minutes Dubai Inc. reported by Steve Kroft.
The Biggest Story in the World — Dubai – home of the world’s largest construction site and one of the most amazing stories in our world today.

While millions flock to Dubai annually, from an American perspective it’s “the Middle East we don’t know”.

Still surrounded in misunderstanding by so many in the US, the massively positive story of Dubai and Middle East 2.0 is the real story of change in the Gulf.

It is a story of peaceful, constructive excellence and the pursuit of dreams. A story very much in line with true American values.

Dubai is a city in the emirate of Dubai which is part of the United Arab Emirates or UAE in the Persian Gulf. The UAE is part of the GCC, Gulf Cooperative Council, an economic group of nations along the lines of the European Union (EU). The GCC includes the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The growth in Dubai is representative of the growth in the region. While many in America associate the Arab world, the Middle East, the Gulf or sadly Islam and Muslims with terror and terrorism, war and violence, the real story of the Middle East is what is going on with construction, commerce, art, development and millions of people making a better life for themselves.

There is clearly a big difference between the perceptions of Iraq or other areas in the region and reality. Some people tend to think that Iran, the UAE, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are all the same – the region is as varied as the Americas.

Richard Branson, Tiger Woods, Martha Stewart, Madonna and Donald Trump all have business ventures in Dubai. The area is known mostly for real estate but many other projects continue there daily.

today only something like 7% of Dubai revenues come from oil. The UEA have diversified their economy to still keep things going once the oil has all gone

Nice to see where all the profits from oil sales went from the last 10 years… It’s an Arab version of Las Vegas, but I wonder if the Dubai will still be the place to been seen when the oil runs out?

@NauticalFILMS : yes they can but not all of them, police do not do anything with it, for example in USA its okay to wear bikinis in the beach so if an American women wore a bikini at one of Dubais beaches its alllll alright , but heres the odd thing, we (arabian) see that any Arabian women show so much skin is consider as a ***** or something (no offense to other people because its our culture) so it comes to pride , if she has no pride and its ok with her no one can stop her.english is my 2nd

I’ve been here, its a good place to visit and all, but not to live unless you’re an Emirati yourself.. Or a gulf Arab.. People of color are discriminated against and you have no rights..

Question… Can women wear bikinis in dubai beach?

I heard police arrest women who show too much skin. Is this true ? I have seen number of people complaint about Dubai beaches. Can anyone here explain?

…u could campare its politics with those of germany, your either german citizien or not, in germany you cant have dual citizienship,…dubai though has a twist. live in dubai for centuries you will not get citizienship unless your from nabouring arab states, all 22 of them:), So if your white and have lebanese ancestory then you could be one…there turning that into business too, haha.salam,shalom,peace. PS-All you athiest fuckers if you have a problem go **** a **** you homo’s.

  14. wess2583 on February 4th, 2009 11:13 am

This guy could not be more right in this video. I just got back from Dubai; I was living there for four months. America is so the last one to jump on this bandwagon. Also, Xzibillion, very true about the shady money and the way they treat the laborers there. Its unfortunate to compromise someone’s dignity for someone else’s pleasure. One last thing, “The Biggest Story of the World”…of course it is, Dubai is thee Superlative Nation ‘of the World.’

Matt: 19:21 Then someone came to him and said “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life…[Jesus said] go sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven…When the young man heard this word he went away grieving, for he had many possessions…
